Salisbury Radio was at Spire View last evening, where residents were evacuated by Police. Bomb disposal experts and armed officers were at Spire View until the area was "deemed safe" around 9pm. Residents appeared to be in good humour, conversing with Police during the incident. One resident, Paul, told Salisbury Radio, "We need to let them get on with what needs to happen, there's nothing I can do about it."
Rumours were circulating among the residents that "a bomb had been found", a man had "shot a cat" and "a man shot a pigeon".
As Police stood down, residents conversed that "no-one had been removed" from the area, leading to suspicion that rumours were unfounded.
It became obvious - and later confirmed by Police - that the presence of Police helicopters, an incident in Bishopdown and the assault in Firsdown were related.
Local schools St Marks and Wyndham Park are open as usual this morning.
Salisbury Radio on-air and on Facebook will update this story as official information is released.
