Students and staff at Wyvern St Edmund's are celebrating today after receiving the school's best ever GCSE results - with many students achieving top grades across a wide range of subjects.
This year's cohort has demonstrated incredible resilience, determination and dedication throughout their studies.
An impressive 74% of students achieved a Grade 4 or higher in both English and Maths with 57% achieving a Grade 5 or higher in both subjects.
In addition, 21% of students achieved a Grade 7 or higher in English with 17% reaching the same standard in Maths. Across the school, 55% of all grades awarded were Grade 5 or higher.
Bruce Burley, Headteacher at Wyvern St Edmund's says, "To see our Year 11 students achieve this set of results after their five-year journey with us is immensely pleasing. So many will have now opened doors for the next stage of their education. We simply couldn't be prouder."
Head Girl Jheanelle Assan reflected on her experiences at WSE and the positive impact of her final year. Jheanelle was equally pleased with both her achievements and the progress made across the school community, "I'm delighted with my results. As Head Girl, I had the opportunity to work closely with the student leadership team and contribute to positive changes across the school.
"One of the key improvements was ensuring that student voice was heard and acted upon. It's wonderful to see our year group achieve such fantastic results and I'm proud to have been part of it."
The Class of 2026 has shown exceptional commitment throughout their time at WSE, successfully balancing academic studies with a wide range of extracurricular activities while achieving these record-breaking results.
Mr Burley adds, "Congratulations to all students, their families and the dedicated staff whose hard work and support have contributed to this outstanding achievement. Together, they have made school history with Wyvern St Edmund's best ever GCSE results."
