Salisbury FC are on the road to Chesham this evening (18th February) for the third meeting between the two sides this season, for a match which was rescheduled after the initial date was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Both sides have a win against the other so far this season, Chesham winning at the Ray Mac in the league back in September, whilst Salisbury won at The Meadow in December in the FA Trophy.
The matches were both won by a goal difference. In the league meeting in September, Chesham won by two goals to one, with all the goals coming in the first half.
Salisbury took an early lead through Ronan Silva before Chesham fought back with goals from Jo Grant and Callum Adebiyi.
The Whites thought they had levelled in the second half, but the referee, Tom Ellsmore, and his assistant didn’t believe that Jordan Ragguette’s thunderous long-range strike had crossed the line after coming off the underside of the bar.
Then in December, Salisbury ran out 3-2 winners in the FA Trophy. Salisbury came from behind to win by three goals to two. A Noah Coppin brace added to Callum Watt’s first-half goal, with Alex Lafleur and Connor Stevens on the score sheet for Chesham.
Chesham and Salisbury are in very similar form at the moment, both having won once in their last six matches.
Chesham have lost their last two since beating Weymouth on the 8th of February. They have since lost two-nil away at Chippenham and on Saturday, they lost three-one at home to Enfield Town.
Michael Murray said he was disappointed and that his side had conceded some poor goals in the match.
Salisbury were beaten at the Ray Mac by Chelmsford City on Saturday, Critchlow scored two in the first half either side of Finn Tonks being shown a red card, with Rye adding a third in the second half. Karlos Gregory did grab a late consolation goal for the home side, curling a beauty into the top corner from the edge of the box.
