Work begins to turn former HomeSense unit into 24/7 gym

Work has begun to transform a former HomeSense unit in Salisbury into a new 24 hour gym.

The former HomeSense unit at Churchill Way West Retail Park is being fitted out to become a new branch of The Gym Group, next to the recently opened Lidl and the long-standing Sports Direct store.

Signs have appeared on the front doors and windows of Unit 2 this week, confirming that the gym will be opening '24/7… soon’.

The new blue signage also features two QR codes, allowing people to register their interest in joining the gym or apply for jobs at the new site.

The development follows planning permission being granted for the unit to be converted into a gym. Planning documents show the proposals include the installation of a new mezzanine floor to allow for the gym to fully operate.

The arrival of The Gym Group will give Salisbury its first branch of the nationwide fitness chain, which currently has more than 260 gyms across the UK. The closest branch to Salisbury is currently Southampton. The company says its gyms are designed to offer affordable memberships, high-spec equipment, free classes and flexible access, with most locations open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Memberships currently start from £14.99, although prices vary between locations. The Gym Group also offers different membership options, including plans with access to multiple gyms around the country.

There is currently no confirmed opening date as of yet.
