Salisbury Trust for the Homeless Support Workers Complete 200-Mile Challenge and Raise £1,500

Salisbury Trust for the Homeless is celebrating the successful completion of a 200-mile fundraising challenge by support workers Hannah Pickering and Lisa Mills, who raised

The pair, who raised an incredible £1,500 to support the charity's work with people experiencing homelessness.

Throughout July 2026, Hannah and Lisa walked 200 miles across Salisbury while continuing their roles at the Trust, raising both funds and awareness for the charity's vital work within the local community.

The challenge concluded with a final walk around Salisbury Cathedral Close, followed by a celebration attended by supporters, local representatives, including the Deputy Mayor, Victoria Charleston, Salisbury Foodbank, former Trust Chairperson Phyllis Babb, and members of the community.

A massive thank you must also go out to the team at Sainsbury's in Salisbury for their kindness and generosity in donating a gift card so that refreshments and sweet treats could be enjoyed by all who attended and walked that final mile.

Reflecting on the achievement, Lisa Mills said, "It has been really quite exhausting, but it has been great.

"We've met a lot of people along the way. Salisbury Trust for the Homeless is the longest-standing homeless charity in Salisbury, and next year we will be celebrating 40 years. The community has always supported us in more ways than we could ever wish.

"We're super thankful for everyone. Not just those who've donated, but have given us a 'well done,' given us some encouragement, and told us to keep going.

"We appreciate all of that; it's not about the money, it's about what we can do with the money to make the lives better for our residents."

The challenge was inspired by the remarkable efforts of former Chairperson Phyllis Babb, who raised more than £12,000 last year by completing 200 laps of Salisbury Cathedral Close at the age of 101.

Funds from that campaign helped furnish a new property that the Trust opened in January 2026 and supported a furniture upgrade programme across its accommodation portfolio.

Speaking at the finale event, Phyllis Babb praised Hannah and Lisa's dedication, "I wanted to support the two girls who have been walking every day in July to raise money for the Trust.

"I said I would come with them for one day and the last day felt like the most appropriate.

"I think it's marvellous and a splendid idea.

"Especially when they're working as well, and they work very hard."

Hannah Pickering expressed her appreciation for the support received throughout the month:

"I'm shocked at how many people have arrived today, and it's made me feel quite emotional.

"We're really thankful to our family and friends for coming on walks with us and to our manager Ross who has supported us in many ways, and we are so grateful to have him on board with us."

As a charity that receives no government funding, Salisbury Trust for the Homeless relies entirely on donations, fundraising initiatives and community support to continue providing accommodation and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

The £1,500 raised through the challenge will help the Trust continue its mission of supporting residents on their journey towards greater stability, independence and a brighter future.

As the Trust approaches its 40th anniversary in 2027, the success of Hannah and Lisa's challenge serves as a powerful example of the community spirit that continues to underpin the charity's work.
