Salisbury Soroptimists has appointed Liz Batton as its new president following the group’s annual general meeting.
Ms Batton received the chain of office from outgoing president Michele Smith and will be joined by president elect Eleanor Evans and vice-president Lizzie Rogers.
Liz Batton has been a Soroptimist for more than 40 years and previously served as president of Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland.
Her theme for the year is “Words into Action”, with plans to strengthen existing projects and focus on recruiting and retaining members.
The organisation also celebrated achievements from the past year, including collecting more than 5,500 bras for Africa, supporting Salisbury Women’s Refuge, campaigning against violence towards women and girls, and promoting safety initiatives in Salisbury.
The group meets monthly in Salisbury and is encouraging new members interested in supporting women and girls locally and around the world to get involved.
