Local cycling groups will be at this Saturday's People in the Park promoting cycling to those attending the popular event at Elizabeth Gardens in Salisbury.
Organisations that will be at the event include the Cycling Opportunities Group for Salisbury (COGS), Breeze Rides (women’s social rides), SRAM (Salisbury Road and Mountain Cycling Club), Charlottes Tandems (free loans of tandems for those with disabilities), and Bikeability (National Cycle Training).
Those attending People in the Park will be able to obtain information on cycling - how to get around Salisbury by bike, choose groups and rides, and learn about where and how to cycle.
A variety of cycle-related activities will also be running throughout the day, including:
Dr Bike Checks - Local volunteers will offer free bike safety checks and basic repairs, from puncture fixes to gear adjustments, helping keep bikes safe and road-ready across the city.
Smoothie Bike - Hop on Salisbury’s own pedal-powered Smoothie Bike and blend yourself a delicious, healthy drink using your own pedal power.
Bike Security Marking – One of our brilliant local PCSOs will be present from 12:30 to provide free bike security marking and security advice to deter theft and improve the chances of recovering your bike if it’s ever lost or stolen.
Rob Jacobs, Chair of COGS, said, “This event is a great example of collaborative work by volunteer groups in Salisbury who love helping people of all ages get out and about on their bikes. We are really happy to be involved in this event.
"Why not come along to obtain local information on cycling, get your bike checked for summer, make your own smoothie and have your bike marked at People in the Park.”
