Driver banned after Salisbury crash case

A driver has been disqualified after crashing his car while over the alcohol limit in Salisbury.

Police were called to Devizes Road on 17 August 2024 after reports of a collision involving a Honda Civic that had left the road and struck a wall.

Officers attending the scene found the vehicle with significant front damage and located 22 year old Warren Barrett nearby.

Police suspected he had been drinking and he failed a roadside breath test before later providing an evidential breath reading of 42 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Barrett, from Hazel Close in Bemerton Heath, was later charged with drink driving and pleaded guilty to the offence.

At Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 2 April he received a 14 month driving disqualification.

Police Constable McColm said drink driving is one of the fatal five offences and warned drivers they must expect to lose their licence if they choose to drive while intoxicated.
