Salisbury suffered defeat in a close encounter with playoff-chasing Torquay United away from home after two second-half goals sealed their fate.
The game was played out in torrential rain and driving winds, making for tricky conditions for both sides.
The hosts were the better side in the opening 25 minutes, penning the Whites into their own half, and almost taking a couple of chances early-on.
However, the visitors were able to turn the possession stats on its head as they wrestled back control in the first half.
A wave of attacks stunned the visitors, as Salisbury worked the ball into the flanks for Morgan and McIntyre to attack with pace and make a significant impact.
A breakthrough seemed imminent, as Morgan had a shot saved after bombing down the wing, successfully cutting onto his left foot and stinging the goalkeeper's gloves for a corner.
Salisbury’s best chance of the half subsequently followed as Coppin managed to awkwardly touch down the delivery from the corner, pulling off a scissor kick and rattling the woodwork.
The rest of the first half continued in a similar fashion, as the Whites kept the pressure on the hosts.
Despite heaps of optimism radiating from the away end, Torquay came out after the break the side more likely to take the lead.
And just four minutes after the interval, a sumptuous strike from Torquay’s Dylan Morgan side flew past Will Buse and into the top right-hand corner for the opening goal.
Yet, Brian Dutton’s side remained positive, attempting to get back on the front foot and find an equaliser.
The majority of chances went through Hedges in the second half, as some inspired close control and slaloming runs looked to put the opposition in a trance, but the attacks were eventually thwarted.
The first roll of the dice came just before the 80th minute as skipper Sommerton and Odokonyero replaced McIntyre and Dabre.
However, Torquay scored their second against the run of play after pressuring the Salisbury centre-half Gbadebo, to concede possession to eventually score from outside the area as Mat Jay finished well past Buse.
The action wasn’t over, however, as the Whites piled bodies into the hosts’ box, pulling back a consolation goal just before the 90th through Sommerton, whilst Coppin and Odokonyero also stretched for it.
Up next for Salisbury is a trip to Slough Town on Saturday afternoon (14th March), kick off is at 3pm - Live commentary will be on Salisbury Radio Sport.
