Tinga, located on Salisbury's High Street, is set to bring the spirit of Mexico City to Winchester with the opening of its second restaurant
The independent Mexican bar and restaurant will open in late November, featuring distinctive interiors, traditional Mexican food, and its signature tequila trolley.
Independent Mexican bar and restaurant Tinga has announced plans to open its second site at 32–33 Jewry Street, Winchester, in late November 2026.
Building on the reputation of its established Salisbury restaurant, Tinga will bring its distinctive style and sociable atmosphere to the heart of Winchester. The former Margaux premises will become an immersive setting inspired by Mexico City, with a bar for guests to drop in for drinks, restaurant dining, and a private dining room.

Inspired by Mexico City’s street vendors, neighbourhood taquerías, and family-run eateries, Tinga’s menu brings together authentic ingredients and freshly prepared dishes. Guests can dine the Mexican way, sharing conversation and a spread of small plates, or settle into a hearty main. Freshly made margaritas, crafted with Patrón tequila as standard, will join signature cocktails and mocktails on a drinks menu featuring premium tequila and mezcal, beers, wines and soft drinks.
Tinga’s signature tequila trolley will add a little tableside theatre.
The opening marks a significant next step for the independently owned business, fulfilling an ambition to bring Tinga to Winchester that dates back to its founding in 2018.
Jewry Street’s mix of established restaurants and hospitality venues made it a compelling location for the second site.

Matthew Thorne, Director of Tinga, said, “Winchester is somewhere we’ve wanted to bring Tinga for a long time. Its rich history and the mix of people who live, work and study here give the city a character we’ve always been drawn to. There’s an appreciation for good food, interesting places and enjoying life that feels like a natural fit for Tinga.
“When the opportunity arose on Jewry Street, alongside some fantastic restaurants and hospitality concepts, we knew it was one we wanted to take.
“We’re proud of the reputation we’ve built in Salisbury and the affection people have for Tinga. Having that foundation makes this an incredibly exciting next step. We can't wait to welcome Winchester through the doors and share the food, drinks and atmosphere that make Tinga what it is."
Tinga is making a considerable investment in the launch and expects to build a team of approximately 20-30 staff at the Winchester restaurant. The business also intends to work with as many local suppliers as possible.
Tinga Winchester is expected to open in late November.
