Officers at Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses regarding criminal damage to the newly installed playpark at Bonnymead in Amesbury.
Following a £500,000 refurbishment, the playpark was officially re-opened on Friday 10th July by Amesbury Town Council and members of the local community.
Later that same day, between approximately 9.45 pm and 10.45 pm, unknown suspects deliberately damaged several coloured perspex panels within the sensory area of the park. The cost of repair is thought to be in the region of £750.
Police said in a statement, "Amesbury Neighbourhood Team are appealing for witnesses who may have been present during this time and can assist with Police enquiries in identifying those responsible.
"We would like to make it clear that this type of behaviour and offending will not be tolerated.
"Going forwards officers will be conducting high-visibility patrols of the location to deter further incidents.
"Please contact Amesbury Neighbourhood Team via amesburyareanpt@wiltshire.police.uk with any relevant information quoting 54260083148."
