Local businesses give 'relentless community support' ahead of Hero Awards Night

With one week to go until the city’s annual community awards night, Salisbury Radio wants to thank the many local businesses who have worked together to make the event happen.

The gala Salisbury Local Hero Awards will be held at The Stones Hotel next Friday evening, the entire event is sponsored by A Class Roofing and Construction.

Salisbury Radio Managing Director David Harber says, “The unprecedented number of nominations across all categories this year shows the sheer amount of great work that’s happening in the background around our community.

“Whereas on the night we will give special thanks to individuals and organisations that have gone above and beyond to support their community, I do think it’s essential we applaud the local companies who have made this special night a reality”.

Nominations for the 11 categories closed at the end of July and each category winner will be thanked for their selfless services at the annual event next week.

This year’s event is hosted by Ceri Hurford-Jones from Salisbury Radio and Faye Tryhorn from Salisbury homelessness charity Alabaré.

“Salisbury has a breath-taking sense of unity and community”, adds David. “In fact, that community spirit really is strong amongst our wonderful local businesses that support not only an individual category at our own event, but also quietly support their own preferred small local charitable causes.

“It’s an honour to work with our event and category sponsors who, we hope, we can recognise again on the night for their relentless support of our local area”.

Ahead of the event which will be officially opened by The Right Worshipful Deputy Mayor of the City of Salisbury, Cllr Victoria Charleston and Cllr Laura Knight, the Mayor of Amesbury, David Harber concludes, “At a time when Salisbury Radio can proudly announce its digital listening audience has increased 33% in the past six months, we’re proud to acknowledge, herald and recognise the great work of our community-minded local businesses that in turn support our local area”.
