Hatch House Open Garden Fundraiser Achieves Record-Breaking Total for Salisbury Hospice

On Sunday 30 August, the Open Garden at Hatch House broke its fundraising record by a significant margin, having welcomed hundreds of visitors to enjoy the beautiful grounds and browse second-hand treasures.

The day, kindly hosted by Sir Henry and Lady Holly Rumbold and supported by the dedicated Tisbury Fundraising Committee, has long been a highlight of the hospice fundraising calendar.

This year, the event raised £36,778 for Salisbury Hospice Charity through the sale of cakes, refreshments, pre-loved clothes and more. This year’s total is the largest amount raised by the event since it began.

The total raised by Hatch House Open Garden over the years now stands at more than £250,000. The money raised will help fund the services provided by Salisbury Hospice, which offers compassionate, specialist palliative and end of life care to patients and their families in the local community.

Amid a friendly, lively atmosphere, the public enjoyed homemade cakes, a sizzling barbecue courtesy of Compton McRae, and refreshing Pimms. The stunning 17th century Dutch walled garden and sweeping views over the Vale of Wardour provided the perfect backdrop for the day.

Reflecting on the day, Lady Rumbold said: “It is wonderful to host the event, we so love doing well by doing good.”

Tamsin Murley, Volunteer Coordinator at Salisbury Hospice Charity said: "We are delighted that Sir Henry and Lady Holly Rumbold kindly welcomed us once again to the stunning grounds of Hatch House. Special recognition must go to Lady Rumbold, her family, and her dedicated team of helpers for the countless hours spent preparing items for sale, as well as to the Tisbury Fundraising Committee for their exceptional efforts in helping to run the event. 85 volunteers supported the event over the past days and weeks (and in some cases months!)...This year’s remarkable result truly demonstrates the power of a dedicated volunteer community, for which we are infinitely grateful.”
