ALABARÉ Working with Rifles Security Solutions to Break the Cycle of Veterans’ Homelessness

Leading homelessness charity ALABARÉ is working alongside London-based organisation Rifles Security Solutions (RSS Ltd) to help previously homeless veterans find employment and live independently again.

The business, which is owned and operated by former Royal Green Jacket (Rifle), Lee Rider, is offering clients who have been staying in the charity’s Homes for Veterans a chance to gain employment and break the cycle of homelessness.

RSS Ltd provides bespoke security coverage, focusing on recruiting veterans and drawing on their training, resilience, and experience to deliver the best results.

They are also market leaders in offering a ‘live-in caretaker’ service, which sees veterans residing in empty properties across the UK, predominantly in London, to protect them from illegal entry and damage.

Across the capital, there are 87,000 vacant buildings, while ALABARÉ is supporting clients as they build their confidence and employability skills and in their journey towards independent, fulfilling lives.

This makes the partnership a natural alignment with the charity’s mission of providing homes, restoring hearts, and empowering minds.

Matt and Jimmy are two ALABARÉ clients who have recently taken on a role with RSS.

Matt served 22 years in the Royal Navy and came into the charity’s services in 2023 after becoming homeless while struggling to secure enough work to cover rent in South East London.

He was referred to ALABARÉ and relocated to Salisbury, but Matt has now regained his sense of purpose and well-being, joining RSS with a placement back to London.

He says the charity ‘helped him from the bottom of a black hole’ and credits them with turning his life around to a point where he’s happy and excited for the future.

Jimmy had a 12-year career in the Royal Marines and, following his service, became a chef, but he lost his home after being furloughed during COVID and failing to keep up with rent.

After a period of sofa surfing and sleeping on the streets, he referred himself to ALABARÉ in Salisbury just before Christmas 2025.

Just six months later, he’s moved into independent living and employment with Rifles Security Services and is thriving.

Lee Rider, Managing Director of RSS Ltd, said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with ALABARÉ and supporting veterans into stability and safety. We couldn’t be happier with how the guys are settling in, and over time, we’ll be building up their training to increase the employment opportunities available to them even further.

“At Rifles Security Solutions, we see the huge value and potential of having former military personnel within our sector, and we’re looking forward to welcoming future ALABARÉ clients to the team if they feel it’s the career for them.”

James Tomlinson, Director of People, Communications and Change at ALABARÉ, said, “Working alongside Rifles Security Solutions makes perfect sense for veterans within our services. Many of our clients who have been in the military miss the teamwork, routine and sense of purpose they felt during their service, so finding a placement within the security industry provides that once again, while also giving them access to accommodation to put down new roots.

“Our mission is to break the cycle of homelessness, and this partnership is making that a reality, supporting veterans to successfully transition to independent living, with confidence and positivity.”
