In the first six months of 2026, Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance have attended 595 missions, including 49 missions in the Salisbury, Amesbury, Tidworth and Tisbury areas.
February was their busiest ever, making it the first February in their history to respond to more than 100 missions.
The proportion of missions attended by a critical care doctor has increased from 61% in 2025 to 65% so far this year. That means more patients can receive advanced procedures and lifesaving interventions at the scene, bringing hospital-level care directly to the patient.
Chief executive, Barbara Gray, explained: “We are incredibly proud to provide lifesaving critical care to people across our community, 365 days a year. Behind every number is a real person, along with their family, friends and loved ones.
"With our busiest February on record, these figures highlight just how vital our service is. As a charity, we are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us so far this year. Together, we are helping to save lives.”
Wiltshire & Bath Air Ambulance provides critical medical care by land and air across Wiltshire and Bath, delivering the same level of care as a hospital. Their expert team and specialist equipment help those in need directly – as fast as humanly possible.
They are on call 365 days a year, 19 hours a day, with their team responding to an average of three incidents daily – attending by helicopter or critical care car. This vital work is only possible thanks to the generosity of the Wiltshire and Bath communities.
As a registered Charity, they receive no regular government funding and rely entirely on the generous donations and support.
Based in central Wiltshire, the helicopter can reach anywhere in Wiltshire within 11 minutes – and the centre of Bath in just four.
There are many ways you can help support your local air ambulance.
Whether you join them at one of their events this year, host your own community fundraiser, take part in their raffles, leave a legacy, become a volunteer, or support them in one of the many other ways available.
