The Bridge Youth Project has announced the launch of a special fundraising campaign, ‘12 Days of Bridgemas,' created in collaboration with local sixth-form media students at S6C.
The campaign coincides with The Big Give Christmas Challenge, running from 2nd to 9th December, where every donation will have twice the impact #christmaschallenge.
Over recent weeks, media students have been working closely with Bridge Youth Project Director Alex Ewing and Fundraising & Communications Lead Nicky Williams to develop a creative social media campaign showcasing the charity's work.
The ‘12 Days of Bridgemas’ highlights the positive impact of the Bridge Youth Project across the 23 primary and secondary schools it serves in Wiltshire and North Dorset.
The Bridge Youth Project provide children & young people with space to grow in their spirituality and wellbeing through Christian chaplaincy in schools, helping them to navigate life with purpose, resilience, and a sense of fulfilment.
This modern approach of chaplaincy maybe through, mentoring, workshops, RE lessons, supporting staff and parents.
The role of a Bridge Chaplain is to be a ‘listening presence’ in the school, noticing where there might be a need, which allows young people and staff to engage in ways they might not with other school staff.
Staff and students describe the Chaplain’s impact as:
- “She can support staff better than anyone else because she is one step removed in a really unique way.” –
- Headteacher
- “Young people really open up to our Chaplain, where they might not open up to others.” – Teacher
- “Parents have shown much better engagement with her than with other staff — her role is absolutely unique and
- makes the biggest difference.” – Teacher
- “When me and my other friends are sad we can talk to her when we don’t feel like we can talk to other staff.” – Year
- 4 pupil
“We are thrilled to collaborate with such talented sixth form students. They have worked tirelessly and have treated this assignment as if they were dealing with a paid client. Their creativity and enthusiasm have brought our work to life that expresses who we are as a Charity and will start to raise awareness from the 20th November with all their work”, said Alex Ewing, Director of Bridge Youth Project. “As we launch our Big Give campaign on 2nd December, we hope the community will join us in making a difference for young people in Wiltshire and North Dorset. We also want to give a
shout out to the three students who did a sky dive charity jump for us this month and raised £1072!"
The campaign can be followed on social media via the Bridge Youth Project channels on Facebook and Instagram, and donations can be made through The Big Give platform during the week of 2nd–9th December https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000005BOLtYA
