Lidl has confirmed that its second store in Salisbury will open on Thursday 26th February and the local community is invited to join for the grand opening celebrations from 7am.
Following the announcement on Salisbury Radio yesterday, Lidl GB have confirmed to us, "On opening day, shoppers can look forward to complimentary food sampling as well as some special prizes up for grabs at the Churchill Way West location.
"The store will be open from 7am–10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays, providing the community with access to the discounter’s award-winning range of great value and quality products."
With a 1,465m² sales area, the store will feature the discounter’s popular in-store bakery, iconic 'Middle of Lidl', and customer facilities, including toilets with baby-changing. Outside, there will be ample parking for cars and bicycles as well as rapid electric vehicle chargers. As part of Lidl GB’s commitment to renewable energy and carbon emissions reduction, some of the store’s power will be captured from solar panels on the roof.
Lidl say they are proud to "have already served households and the wider community in Salisbury for over 15 years".
Through its surplus food donation scheme, Feed it Back - delivered with partner, Neighbourly – Lidl has already supported local charities and redistributed over 16,000 meals to those in need. Conveniently located on the west side of Salisbury, even more of the community will also now benefit from what Lidl describes as ‘the Lidl Effect’.
James Mitchell, Regional Head of Property for Lidl GB, commented, “We are thrilled to officially open our second Lidl store in Salisbury. This fantastic new store is a direct response to the local demand for high-quality, affordable groceries, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome the community inside. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us turn these plans into a reality - we can’t wait to start making a real difference to your weekly shop.”
Lidl say the store opening will create up to 40 new jobs and will remain the highest paying UK supermarket. A spokesperson for Lidl said, "Colleagues will receive an entry-level pay of £13.45 nationally. This is in addition to the industry’s most competitive maternity and paternity leave, as well as exclusive benefits like 10% in-store discount from the first day."
