A brilliant team of hospice fundraisers took on the Zipwire Experience challenge at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, on 18th October, raising over £17,000 to support specialist, complex palliative and end-of-life care at Salisbury Hospice.
Combining fundraising for a fantastic cause with the ultimate adrenaline rush, the Zipwire Experience, courtesy of Big Bang Experiences, saw eleven Salisbury Hospice Charity fundraisers take to the skies and soar 800ft across the home of English rugby, 100ft above the ground. Among the participants were two octogenarians and a Buzz Lightyear, who created a bit of a buzz!
The zipwire challenge is the latest in a diverse history of fundraising events and challenges offered by the charity, which relies on the generosity of the local community to help fund essential hospice services.

Community Fundraiser Robin McGowan, who accompanied supporters in Twickenham on the day, commented, “It was incredible to see our fantastic fundraisers face those heights on behalf of the hospice, many of whom were taking on a challenge to support us for the first time.
"It was humbling to witness such overwhelming support for the hospice, from our brave zipwire participants to the friends and family who sponsored their loved ones and came along on the day to cheer them on.”
Funds raised will directly support Salisbury Hospice, helping provide specialist, complex palliative and end-of-life care. These services are offered at no cost and are essential to many local people, providing dignity, comfort, and reassurance during some of the hardest times of their lives.
