The 'Shaping Our Future' creative workshop for young people aged 13 – 25 will explore how art, architecture and design can actively shape the places in which we live.
The event takes place between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday 27th May at Salisbury Arts Centre on Bedwin Street.
Organised by Salisbury artist and architect Tim Scare of Scrace Architects and See Space Differently CIC, the event is designed for young people and students interested in architecture, design, art, culture, community and wider creative thinking to learn more about the creative sector.
A spokesperson for the event told Salisbury Radio, “Working alongside artists, architects and creative professionals, and supported and facilitated by See Space Differently CIC with partners Wiltshire Creative and other creative collaborators, participants are invited to design, test and develop ideas.
“Ideas are explored collaboratively and developed into proposals for how the city could evolve, opening up dialogue between young people, practitioners and decision-makers. The workshop creates space for imagination, experimentation and genuine civic voice.”
Participants will present and share work as part of a ‘wider conversation about shaping place, culture and community’.
Event organisers are inviting young people to ‘not just to imagine change, but to help define it’.
The event is supported by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Shaping our Future has evolved from Shape & Shift, a new participatory sculpture by Mr Scrace, which launched earlier this month, which invites the community to shape both the work and the culture around it.
