We could soon have a Ski slope simulator just up the road after plans were approved at Bapton Manor Farm in the Wylye Valley.
The simulator will work in a similar way to a treadmill, with the 12m by 6.5m slope moving underneath the skier, meaning once you are on, there is no need to head back to the top.
The plan is to convert one of the farms barns into an indoor ski and climbing centre.
In the application, it was stated, “The barn is surplus to requirements by the farm owners and this new use will bring the building back into a viable and economically sustainable use, whilst also aiding the county’s policies on rural diversification and creating jobs.”
The application lists the use of Maxxtracks equipment, a specialist in indoor ski simulators.
