A Salisbury man has been sentenced after he failed to stop for police officers.
Tyson Sheppard, 20, of The Valley, Bemerton Heath, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was sentenced on September 15 at Salisbury Magistrates Court to a 12-month community order and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
He must also complete 200 hours of unpaid work, pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
On August 28th, 2024, officers sighted a red Ford KA that had been linked to crime and seen to be driven on cloned plates in Devizes Road, Salisbury. The driver immediately reacted to the police presence, and a pursuit ensued.
Sheppard, who was identified as the driver, drove dangerously around the area of Bemerton Heath and Quidhampton before crashing the vehicle.
During the pursuit, Sheppard showed no regard for other road users, nearly colliding with other vehicles on numerous occasions, and narrowly avoiding a pedestrian after mounting a kerb.
The pursuit only ended when Sheppard crashed into a gate on Penning Road, near Hazel Close.
Forensic Collision Investigator Jamie Boyland said: “The manner of driving displayed by Sheppard during this pursuit fell well below the standard expected of a safe and competent driver.
“It is lucky nobody was injured as a result of his dangerous actions.”
