Salisbury Into FA Cup Second Round with Emphatic Win

Brian Dutton's side are into the second round of the FA Cup after a thumping 6-0 win against Sholing at the Ray Mac.

It was the first time that Salisbury played in the first round proper of the cup after reforming in 2015, and they made light work of their opponents from the league below.

Three goals in each half saw Salisbury into Monday's draw, with goals from Odokonyero (2), Hedges, Sivi, Russe and Bartolo putting Sholing to the sword.

Salisbury started well, if not for two strong saves from Sholing keeper Turner from Ogunleye, Sivi and Odokonyero; Salisbury could have taken the lead earlier.

Odokonyero did open the scoring just after the half-hour mark when he turned a cross past the helpless Turner as he got on to the end of a Sivi cross with 31 minutes on the clock.

Just two minutes later, Josh Hedges doubled the lead from the spot after being fouled, winning the spot kick himself. Hedges was fouled as he burst into the box and then stroked the ball into the bottom right-hand corner from the spot.

Jeremy Sivi grabbed his goal, well deserved after a strong performance, as his deflected effort went past Turner. He wrapped his foot around a corner whipped in from Ollie Morgan, who popped up on the left to put the ball into the danger area.

The second half ebbed and flowed, but Odokonyero put the game beyond doubt in the 53rd minute when he lifted the ball over Turner and into the back of the net after a good through ball from Hedges.

Salisbury rang the changes, but the goals kept coming. Salisbury added their fifth in the 89th minute when Bartolo found Russe free in the box and the midfielder slotted home.

Bartolo wrapped up the scoring in added time with a lovely volley from six yards out to make it six and a very comfortable win.

Salisbury will discover their opponents for the second round on Monday evening. The draw will take place live at Plymouth Parkway at approximately 6.45 pm and will be available to watch on TNT Sports 1, HBO Max, and the TNT Sports YouTube channel.

Salisbury will be ball 40.
