On Saturday, 10 May, a Mayor Making event will take place to hand over the mayoral chain from the outgoing Mayor to the new Mayor of Salisbury.
At this point, we do not know who will become the 764th Right Worshipful Mayor of the City of Salisbury, as the appointment depends on the outcome of yesterday's local elections.
A Civic Procession of visiting Mayors from neighbouring towns and cities, local dignitaries and invited guests will leave the Guildhall in procession via Fish Row, Butchers Row, Minster Street and into St. Thomas’s Church at approx. 11.55 am with a fanfare played by the Shrewton Silver Band.
The official Mayor Making Service and Full Council meeting of Salisbury City Council will take place in St Thomas’s Church at 12 pm, which all are welcome to attend.
There is an official handover of the Mayoral Chain by the outgoing Mayor, Cllr Sven Hocking, to the new Mayor of the City of Salisbury during this meeting.
The Civic Party will then make their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall, where there will be a photo opportunity on the steps.
