38 rising stars from one of the world’s top ballet schools will hit the stage in Salisbury with an electrifying mix of classical and cutting-edge dance, with one of the dancers is from the city.
Sophie Curtis, 19, was born in Salisbury and then based in Stockbridge. She attended ballet school at Louise Vincent in Andover, first dancing on stage with English Youth Ballet in The Nutcracker in Salisbury, and later on the professional stage at the Birmingham Hippodrome in Swan Lake.
Bringing fresh dance to national audiences for over 40 years, BALLET CENTRAL 2025 opens in late May in Newbury before heading out on tour and playing at Salisbury Playhouse on Wednesday 4th June.
This year’s tour promises to be a bold collision of heritage and innovation — perfect for first-timers and dance lovers alike.
The programme includes Frederick Ashton’s Foyer de danse—a Degas painting brought to life for the first time in over 90 years—and the unforgettable Keeping Up with the Apocalypse by Thick & Tight, which features the Kardashians as the last species on Earth in a post-apocalyptic, hilariously bizarre future set to Nixon in China.
Curated by Artistic Director Kate Coyne (trained at the Royal Ballet School & London School of Contemporary Dance), the tour promises a fresh, fearless showcase of the next generation of professional dance talent.
