Invitation to Share Feedback on Salisbury Playhouse Transformation Project

Wiltshire Creative and Reed Watts Architects are inviting residents to view and share feedback on plans for the redevelopment of Salisbury Playhouse and Malthouse Lane Roundabout.

The drop-in consultation will take place at Salisbury Playhouse on Saturday 26 September, 10.30 am – 1.30 pm.

Earlier this year, Wiltshire Creative unveiled plans for a once-in-a-generation £22 million project, ‘Transforming Salisbury Playhouse’. The project sets out an ambitious vision for the future, with upgraded facilities and a renewed commitment to developing the next generation of theatre-makers.

The venue, which welcomes over 200,000 visitors from across the region and the UK, hosts 350 performances every year.

Through its community and education programme, Take Part, the Playhouse reaches over 15,000 young people, under-represented communities, people with special educational needs or disabilities, older people and those experiencing loneliness - helping to break down barriers which stand in the way of cultural experiences.

Investment in world-class production facilities will deepen the Playhouse's role as a centre for craft and skills, creating pathways for emerging artists and technicians to learn their trade at one of the country's leading regional theatres.

Reed Watts Architects have been working with Wiltshire Creative on plans for the Playhouse, and the Malthouse Lane roundabout outside the venue. Proposals will revitalise the theatre and its surroundings and help secure the building's future by making it more accessible and sustainable.

Plans and a model of the proposed transformation will be on display to the public at Salisbury Playhouse on Saturday 26 September from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm. Reed Watts will be available to answer questions and to gather feedback from the public prior to submitting a planning application.
