From next month (January), The Young Gallery in Salisbury will exhibit a selection of artworks by the local artist collective, Group 7.
The exhibition opens in Gallery 2 on 16th January and is free to visit, with no booking required. It runs until 25th April 2026.
The exhibition explores colour and mark-making, allowing visitors to view paintings, sculpture, and printmaking. Group 7 consists of the artists Brian Bishop, Martyn Brewster, Bonnie Brown, Michelle Griffiths, Ursula Leach, Stephen Powell, and Peter Symons. The artists are all long-term practitioners with a strong commitment to drawing, painting, and printmaking. The display offers a unique opportunity to view diverse works by a range of artists in one space.
Cllr Mel Jacob, Deputy Leader of Wiltshire Council and Cabinet Member for Communities, Engagement, and Corporate Services, said: “The Young Gallery remains a welcoming space where people can enjoy free access to a fantastic collection of artwork. I’m pleased to have a Wiltshire Council-supported gallery that provides great artwork for the community. Each new exhibition brings fresh excitement, and we’re delighted to showcase the creativity of Group 7 in all its varied forms.”
Dr Emily Dunbar, Curator and Gallery Manager, said: “This exhibition enables the Young Gallery to show contemporary art by working artists. Group 7 are an established group, some of whom are featured in the Young Gallery’s permanent collection, and we are pleased to continue this relationship.”
Group 7 said: “It has been a wonderful opportunity to exhibit at the Young Gallery. We hope visitors will see how colour and mark making carry meaning and significance.”
