New data from the Office for National Statistics shows recorded crime in Wiltshire has increased by just over six per cent.
Around 42,700 offences were recorded in the year to December 2025, up from just under 40,000 the previous year.
Despite the rise, Wiltshire still has the lowest crime rate in the South West and remains well below national averages.
Police leaders say the increase reflects improved crime recording and greater public confidence in reporting offences.
Philip Wilkinson said any rise is a concern, but added that better reporting helps ensure victims receive support and offenders are brought to justice.
Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper said the trend is consistent across all crime types and does not point to a single spike in offending.
Officials say they will continue working with partners to tackle crime and keep communities safe.
