Wiltshire Council has extended its partnership with Daybreak for another three years, to continue providing Family Group Conferences to families supported by the council’s care services.
The partnership will support 160 families through a restorative, family-led approach that brings together children, parents, and their support networks to develop safe, long-term plans for their future.
Since 2015, Wiltshire Council has commissioned Daybreak to deliver the conferences which independent coordinators facilitate. These conferences offer families an opportunity to bring their support network together, empowering them to take the lead in decision-making. By working collaboratively, the group creates a safe and practical plan of action to help resolve challenges, ensuring that everyone involved is heard, respected and supported.
Cllr Jon Hubbard, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “We are proud to continue our partnership with Daybreak to deliver Family Group Conferences and the Lifelong Links scheme. These services help families find their own solutions, improve safety and wellbeing at home, and reduce the need for children to enter care. We are delighted to continue this important work, which is making a real and lasting difference in the lives of children, young people and families across our communities in Wiltshire.”
Debbie Burns, Daybreak CEO, said: "We are delighted to continue our partnership with Wiltshire Council. It comes at a time when family group decision making processes such as Family Group Conferences are receiving increased focused nationally. As a charity founded to ensure families are empowered to problem-solve in this way, we are looking forward to this renewed focus to deepen our impact in Wiltshire.”
