South Western Railway is warning that train services will start later than usual tomorrow, Tuesday, 8th November.
The first services on Tuesday 8 November will be much later than usual and are likely to be very busy. Customers are advised to avoid travelling before 0800 and check journey planners as close to their departure time as possible.
Journey planners are currently up to date with our late starting timetable. We are working hard to provide some additional services on specific routes before 0800, which will be added to journey planners by 21.00 on Monday. A full service will be in operation after the late startup.

We understand our customers’ frustration at the late startup caused by the now-cancelled RMT strike action. Timetables are meticulously planned to ensure trains run safely, have to be coordinated by Network Rail nationally and are finalised a week in advance. They rely on complex resourcing plans for drivers, guards, signallers, engineers and trains, so reintroducing train services with confidence relies on over 1,000 individual plans working together to ensure we have the right trains, guards, and drivers in the right place throughout the day. We are also reliant on guard and driver colleagues volunteering to change their rostered shift patterns at short-notice.
We’re sorry for the ongoing disruption during this period of extended industrial action and are working hard to get as many trains running as usual.
A full service will operate after the late startup on Tuesday, 8 November, and all day on Wednesday, 9 November and Thursday, 10 November.
