Wiltshire Council is reminding residents to renew their garden waste collections to ensure uninterrupted service and avoid missed collections.
Households that pay online for their garden waste collection have received an email reminding them that their subscription expires on 30 June 2026. To avoid a gap in service, residents need to renew their subscription by Saturday, 27th June.
Customers who have not previously paid online, and for whom the council does not hold an email address, have been sent a letter outlining their renewal arrangements.
The cost of a garden waste collection is £78 per bin.
The easiest way to sign up is online at https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/gardenwaste. Alternatively, residents can call 0300 456 0103 and press option 4.
To help improve the security of customer information, residents wishing to sign up for, or renew, a garden waste collection online will need to sign in to their Wiltshire Council account or register for one if they do not already have an account.
For those registering for the first time, a video and step-by-step guide are available on the registration webpage.
Waste crews use in‑vehicle technology to identify which households have subscribed to the garden waste service. Residents must ensure their garden waste bin is clearly identifiable by displaying their house name or number. House name/numbers should be clearly shown on the back of the bin, and bins should be presented for collection with the handle facing outwards. Residents may paint their house name/number on the bin if they wish or keep a previous bin sticker displayed.

Residents do not need to contact the council if they do not wish to renew their subscription.
Cllr Paul Sample JP, Cabinet Member for Environment, Climate and Waste, said: “For the 12 months up to the end of March 2026, we collected more than 26,000 tonnes of garden waste from over 80,000 households across Wiltshire. All of this waste is composted locally, helping to reduce pollution and support a more sustainable waste system.
“As part of this service, residents can recycle items such as grass cuttings, hedge clippings, weeds, leaves, bark and cut flowers. Your garden waste goes through a composting process, which is then available to buy at our household recycling centres, or directly from Hills Waste Solutions, for larger quantities.
“I’d like to thank residents for their continued support in helping us recycle as much garden waste as possible – and I urge residents to buy their compost from their local Household Recycling Centre.”
Garden waste bins are emptied fortnightly, except for two weeks over Christmas and New Year.
