A passionate group of "pub fanatics" has proudly taken ownership of The Silver Plough, Pitton, embarking on an ambitious plan to breathe new life into it.
The Silver Plough, nestled at White Hill, recently closed its doors as the former owner retired due to health reasons.
However, the Wiltshire-based Chickpea Group has now stepped in, eager to expand its repertoire of five other local pubs by welcoming the Silver Plough into their family.
The 18th Century pub, boasting a wealth of period features, will once again become a haven for food, drink, and even a cosy overnight stay.
The initial refurbishments have already commenced, and the Silver Plough is set to reopen its doors in late August.
The dedicated team behind the Chickpea Group has exciting plans for the establishment's future.
In the project's first phase, they are meticulously reviving the pub's interior, enhancing its beamed ceilings, preserving its wooden floors, and lovingly restoring the snug fireplaces.
Once complete, the pub will accommodate around 100 guests across three spacious dining areas, each exuding its unique atmosphere.
Furthermore, guests can bask in the glorious sunshine while dining or sipping on drinks in the inviting beer garden at the front of the pub.
Looking ahead, the second phase of the renovation is slated to begin in spring 2024. The team will diligently transform the upstairs space, previously housing an old skittle alley, into seven bedrooms.
This addition will allow patrons to prolong their enjoyment of the pub's warm ambience with an overnight stay.
To ensure a well-rounded and enjoyable experience, the wine list will be thoughtfully curated by Gardner and Beedle, experts in their field. Additionally, a selection of beers will be sourced from Chickpea's very own brewery, Rude Giant Brew Co, ensuring that visitors can relish in a truly unique and authentic selection of beverages.
