Activities at Army Flying Museum, Middle Wallop

The theme at the Army Flying Museum these summer holidays is ‘Summer of Flight’, with special attractions, games and guests.

Visitors can already take advantage of their free weekday craft activities and code breaking trails, but organisers are adding even more to their summer line-up.

The Museum has several creative trails taking place throughout the school holidays along with the regular dress up stations, jigsaws, interactive exhibits and of course, the opportunity to sit inside the helicopters within the Museum.

As part of their Summer of Flight theme, the Museum turns its attention to its glider collection on the week of 10th August, with a very special visit on Tuesday 11 August from the Portsmouth Naval Gliding Club, who will be giving visitors the opportunity to try out their very special simulator.

One lucky family will also have the chance to win a free family ticket to a local tourist attraction, if they find the ‘Golden Glider’ hidden within the Museum.

On Tuesday 18th August, the popular model making and painting session is back at the Museum with the team from Models for Heroes and on Tuesday 19th August, visitors will be able to see some very special small-scale helicopters on display.

With the outdoor play park and picnic tables, visitors also have the chance to see some amazing aircraft flying in and out of the historic Middle Wallop airfield.

Lucy Johnson, CEO of the Army Flying Museum said, “We always enjoy offering a variety of free family activities during the school holidays, which gives visitors real added value for their annual passes. Everyone that visits the Museum only has to pay once to get a free annual pass, so they can come back as often as they like throughout the year including all the school holidays.”
