Salisbury Live has announced the release of Edge of Reason – A Song for Thom, a heartfelt tribute to Thom Belk.
Thom was a passionate supporter of local talent and young artists, and his memory continues to inspire the community.
The song is now available for download on Bandcamp for just £2, with all proceeds benefiting The Rose Gale Trust and The Thom Belk Community Fund. These charities were established to honour the memories of two remarkable individuals—Rose Gale, a dedicated youth worker and co-founder of the Bass Connection, and Thom Belk, whose legacy lives on through his contributions to Salisbury's cultural landscape.
The Rose Gale Trust aims to empower young people aged 13 to 25 in South Wiltshire by providing grants to support their education, career development, and skills enhancement, particularly for those facing financial hardship or unemployment. The Fund helps recipients access education, training, arts, sport, and community projects by providing grants up to £200 in Salisbury and surrounding areas.
“We are honoured to release this song in memory of Thom,” says Colin Holton, Director of Salisbury Live. “Thom's passion for Salisbury's music scene and his dedication to young artists made a lasting impact. This song is just one of many ways we continue to celebrate his incredible contribution.”
In addition to the song release, funds for The Rose Gale Trust and The Thom Belk Community Fund will be further raised at the upcoming Salisbury Live event, Right Here Right Now, on 16th August at Victoria Park in Salisbury.
The event will feature headline act Fatboy Tim (a tribute to Fatboy Slim), along with a diverse lineup of original and tribute acts performing across two stages. Attendees will also enjoy licensed bars, food stalls, and children's entertainment.
“We are thrilled to be part of this effort to raise funds for The Rose Gale Trust and The Thom Belk Community Fund,” says Ricky Rogers, Director of The Rose Gale Trust. “These funds will enable us to continue empowering young people in South Wiltshire and support their personal and professional development.”
