Salisbury Radio is pleased to launch Song for Christmas 2023, where we partner with schools across the area to help build the festive spirit.
We are inviting schools across Salisbury and South Wiltshire to join us again this year for Song for Christmas, but this time, it is bigger and better, thanks to our friends at Elite Care.
Last year, 17 schools participated in Song for Christmas, having their festive songs played on the radio in the lead-up to Christmas. Pitton Primary School were crowned Song for Christmas winners for 2022. Could it be your school that wins in 2023?
This year we have room for more schools to take part. Schools need to pick a song and allow our ‘elves’ to come and record their Christmas song, which will be played out on the Radio in December.
Last year, we had a great variety of songs, with festive tracks including Away in a Manger, Love Shone Down, Rockin’ Robin and the winning song, Sweet Chiming Bells.
In a new addition to the festivities this year, Salisbury Radio will also be hosting the Song for Christmas Concerts. Participating schools will be invited to come and perform at a carol concert as a group, with the evening culminating in all the choirs performing together.
Once again, we will be crowning a 2023 winner, but this year, we will also have a runner-up prize. The winning school will take home a £250 book voucher and the trophy, with the runners-up receiving £150 in book vouchers to help add to their school libraries.
It is free for schools to get involved, and Salisbury Radio looks after all the logistics of recording the song.
Andy Munns, a director at Salisbury Radio, said, “We are so excited to continue and grow Song for Christmas. Last year was so much fun that there was no way we weren’t doing it again, so we thought, how can we make it bigger?”
“We’d love to involve as many schools as possible, singing festive songs to play on the radio. We are also excited to launch the Song for Christmas Concerts and bring schools together for an evening of festive carol singing during December.”
