Schools from across Salisbury, South Wiltshire and West Hampshire are coming together again this year to take part in Salisbury Radio's Song for Christmas.
Back for its fourth year, Song for Christmas has proven as popular as ever, and thanks to the support of Elite Care, Salisbury Radio will be presenting the winning school with vouchers worth £250 to purchase new musical equipment.
Our team of judges, made up of former local head teachers, will listen to each song without knowing which school has sung it.
In addition to the winning school receiving vouchers, this year Song for Christmas is raising funds for the Stars Appeal. Each of the school's songs will be available for download, with proceeds donated to the Stars Appeal.
Twenty-one schools are taking part this year, and each of their songs will be played on Salisbury Radio in the run-up to Christmas, with one school featured each day, Monday - Saturday, from December 1st.
In addition, for the third consecutive year, Salisbury Radio will host two Song for Christmas Carol Concerts at Sarum Academy, bringing together 14 schools to perform as combined choirs and to perform their own festive numbers to an audience of family and friends.
Andy Munns from Salisbury Radio is out and about visiting schools and re-recording their songs this year. He said, "I say it every year, but this really is the best part of my job. My trek around the local area, visiting our lovely primary schools and recording them singing, really is a highlight. It very much gets me in the festive spirit.
"Over the next couple of weeks, I will have visited all the schools, recorded their songs, and we will have hosted the two carol concerts. I can't wait for everyone to hear the songs, I am sure, like every year, they will be fantastic!"
