The Local Hero Awards for 2025 were handed out at a gala dinner at The Stones Hotel on Friday (12th September) evening, as amazing local people who do outstanding things were celebrated.

The awards put together by Salisbury Radio and kindly sponsored by Jones & Company were the first awards of their kind in the city for several years.

The awards sponsors, winners and other guests were joined by Salisbury's Mayor, Cllr John Wells and consort Josephine Wells for dinner, dancing and the celebration of those who won the 10 awards.

Dave Cates from the Stars Appeal was recognised for his remarkable fundraising achievements over the past couple of decades, with over £ 45 million raised during that time. Unable to attend, Salisbury Radio's Craig Hicks had gate-crashed a staff meeting at Stars Appeal HQ to present his Lifetime Achievement award.

The team from Old Sarum & Longhedge Community Pantry were rewarded with the Community Project award. The team are currently supporting around 300 families with low-cost shopping, a community cafe and support.
