Salisbury peregrine chick naming opens

Salisbury Cathedral has opened submissions to name its four peregrine chicks.

This year’s names will be based around the Cathedral’s theme of “Joyful Noise”.

The chicks have now been ringed and sexed, revealing two females and two males.

They were weighed, measured and fitted with identification rings by a British Trust for Ornithology registered ringer on May 28.

The first chick hatched on May 2, with the remaining three following by May 5.

Submissions for names close on Friday June 5, with the final names due to be announced later in the month.

The Cathedral is also bringing back its Date with Nature event from June 15 to July 10, giving visitors the chance to speak to RSPB volunteers and watch the peregrines through a telescope.
