Salisbury “long overdue” an FA Cup run, manager Dutton says

Salisbury FC manager Brian Dutton claimed that the Whites are “long overdue” a good FA Cup run, when asked how much his side were focused on the competition.

Since reforming in 2015, the current Salisbury FC have never gotten past the third qualifying round - reaching that stage just once in the 2019/20 season.

But after a strong start this season, Dutton rallied his side ahead of the cup, saying: “We definitely want a good cup run, the club’s long overdue one of them.

“We’ve got a tricky little fixture to begin with, Bridgwater are a couple levels down but they’ve started the season well, and we all know what the FA Cup is about. It’s about giant killing, so we need to make sure we’re on our metal and give them the utmost respect.”

Salisbury take on Bridgwater United in the FA Cup first qualifying round this Saturday.

Bridgwater have won two games to get to this point, beating Liskeard Athletic and Street, and scoring four goals in both games in the process.
