Salisbury City Council has announced an eco-upgrade to the cremators at Salisbury Crematorium, marking a significant step forward in its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.

The £15,000 upgrade introduces an Eco Mode software enhancement that significantly reduces fossil fuel consumption, directly supporting the City Council’s Environmental Policy, which outlines its commitment to reducing environmental impact.

Although sustainability is the primary driver of this initiative, the increased efficiency will also help to reduce operating costs, creating opportunities to reinvest funds into other core council services.

Cllr Jenny Bolwell, Chair of the Environment Committee, said, “This upgrade supports our goal of reducing the council’s carbon footprint, and we will continue to identify opportunities to advance the sustainability of our services.”
