Salisbury City Council’s Christmas Trail is set to return this month, bringing back the traditional family-friendly activity to the city centre.
The much-loved festive attraction returns for the first time since 2022, bringing eight beautifully decorated Christmas installations to Salisbury from 20 November 2026 to 4 January 2027.
The Salisbury Christmas Trail will invite people of all ages to explore Salisbury, discover its streets and shops, and enjoy the city’s Christmas celebrations.
The installations, designed and built by DibDab Designs, will be positioned throughout the city centre, creating a festive route that starts at Salisbury Cathedral and ends at Guildhall Square. The trail will culminate at a magnificent 25- 30 ft Christmas tree on the Guildhall Square, providing a spectacular final stop and the centrepiece of the annual pop-up event, Christmas on the Square.
Trail maps will be available to collect from Salisbury Information Centre and Salisbury Cathedral from 20 November, or digitally on the Salisbury City Council website.
Cllr Sam Charleston, Leader of Salisbury City Council, said, ‘We’re delighted to be bringing back our traditional Christmas trail this year. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the festive season, bring people together and encourage more people to explore the city centre. We’re looking forward to seeing it return as part of our wider programme of Christmas events.’
The Old George Mall is partnering on the trail this year, featuring as a trail location for the very first time, and will be donating the prize for the competition. Participants will be in with a chance of winning a £100 Old George Mall voucher by uncovering the secret word revealed after completing the trail!
Arnold Catterall, OGM Centre Manager, said, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Salisbury City Council on the Christmas trail this year. It’s a wonderful way to bring even more festive spirit into the heart of the city, and we’re excited to see visitors of all ages discover what the mall has to offer as part of their trail adventure.
“We can’t wait to see our community come together, and we look forward to welcoming trail-goers at Old George Mall to warm up, shop, and enjoy the season – and of course, take their chance at winning our £100 voucher along the way.”
Local businesses are being invited to help support the return of the trail through sponsorship opportunities, offering businesses the chance to be part of the celebrations, increase their visibility among residents and visitors, and demonstrate their support for Salisbury’s festive offering.
