There were smiles all round at Salisbury Cathedral over the weekend as the sun shone and more than three thousand people attended two special musical events.
Saturday saw over a thousand people enjoy the popular Organ Prom, where audiences could promenade through the Cathedral whilst listening to popular classics such as Elgar’s Nimrod, Clair de Lune and the Star Wars theme, performed by Salisbury Cathedral’s Director of Music David Halls, and Assistant Director of Music John Challenger.
The evening raised funds to support the Cathedral’s Choral Foundation, which ensures the world-class musical life of the Cathedral continues.
The evening was also sponsored by Batt Broadbent Solicitors LLP, who offer a wide range of high street legal services.
On Sunday afternoon, an estimated 2,000 revellers gathered in the Cathedral Close for the Cathedral’s annual free concert by Swing Unlimited Big Band.
Local residents and visitors gathered on the Salisbury Cathedral lawns for the family-friendly show, where people were invited to come up and dance along to the music in the beautiful sunshine.
