In a unique evening for film fans and music lovers alike, the organist from the original soundtrack recording of Christopher Nolan’s 2014 movie Interstellar will perform Hans Zimmer’s music from the film live on the Cathedral’s famous Father Willis Organ on Saturday, 4th October.
Internationally acclaimed organist Roger Sayer will begin this unique and fascinating concert with excerpts from 2001: A Space Odyssey and Holst’s The Planets Suite, bringing the audience into an otherworldly feel, before a special film, The Making of the Interstellar Soundtrack, will give viewers a rare opportunity to glimpse into the making of this incredible soundtrack.
In 2014, the film score composer Hans Zimmer personally invited Roger to contribute to the recording of the organ part for the Interstellar film soundtrack, using the organ at Temple Church, where he was Director of Music at the time.
The audience will also have the unique opportunity to ask questions about the creation of the soundtrack and hear from Roger himself about his experience working on this iconic film with Nolan and Zimmer.
Speaking of Roger Sayer, award-winning composer Hans Zimmer said, “He is without doubt an extraordinary artist whose humanity shines in the impeccable artistry that flows from his hands.”
