You can nominate a 'local hero' for an award from today.
Salisbury Radio with local company A-Class Roofing and Construction are inviting you to nominate a local hero here in Salisbury.
As announced by Ian Burrage on Salisbury Radio this morning, we are honoured to return the Local Hero Awards to Salisbury.
Nominations are open now for someone you think deserves to be recognised for their efforts, compassion and love here in south Wiltshire and west Hampshire. You can nominate yourselves, or nominate an individual or an organisation you think has done something 'extra special' for others.
The categories for your nominations are:
BRAVERY AWARD (A Class Roofing) This will be awarded to a person or group who have shown exceptional courage through a selfless act. This may have involved a spontaneous act of courage in the face of danger, risk to life, or threat of physical injury.
CHARITABLE COMPANY (Jones & Co) This award recognises a local business that has put the needs of others before their own, giving up countless hours and making a real difference to a local cause.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT (Cara Class) This award will recognise an individual's sustained and outstanding contributions over the course of their career, highlighting their significant impact on our community and how they inspired others.
CHILD OF COURAGE (Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm) This will awarded to someone under 16 who has made a positive impact in their community or made an exceptional difference to the lives of others.
CARER OF THE YEAR (Elite Care) This award is to recognise someone who has gone above and beyond in Caring for an individual or group of people, on a voluntary and unpaid basis.
PARENT OR GUARDIAN (Hopback Brewery) This award recognises parents who are actively involved in their child’s school or extracurricular activities, whether by volunteering, mentoring, supporting events, or working closely with staff.
GOOD NEIGHBOUR (Grist Environmental) This is a special recognition that celebrates individuals who exemplify the true spirit of being a good neighbour. It acknowledges those who have gone above and beyond to help others.
FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR (The Stones Hotel) This award recognises someone who has given up countless hours of their free time and made a real difference to a local good cause.
COMMUNITY PROJECT (Complete Construction) This will be awarded to a group of people who have delivered a project that has really helped to improve the lives of others in our community.
Our glittering, red carpet awards event will be held at The Stones Hotel on Friday 11th September 2025.
