Wiltshire Police is appealing to identify two women as potential witnesses to a serious assault which took place in Salisbury city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning (5th January)
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said, "At around 3.30 am, the victim – a man in his 20s – was assaulted in New Canal outside Chick-O-Land, suffering serious facial injuries.
"He was taken to hospital for treatment.
"Two white women with long dark hair, one wearing a short black dress and the other black trousers and black coat, are thought to have witnessed the incident.
"We would urge them to contact us on 101 quoting reference 54250001325.
"A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with this incident and is in custody for questioning."
