London Road, Salisbury, has been closed to motorists between St Mark’s Avenue and Barrington Road since the rail incident earlier this week. From today, (3rd November 2021) it will also be closed to pedestrians.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said, "We would ask motorists and members of the public to avoid this area if possible and follow diversions which are now in place.
"PCSOs are in place to answer questions from the public and we're also engaging with the local school around the impact on them during pick up and drop off times.
"As always, thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time".
It is expected that the road will remain shut until the end of the week.
