Locals Encouraged to Join the 'Salisbury Glow Ride' Advocating for Safer Streets and Cycle Routes

On 22 October, the 'Salisbury Glow Ride' is taking to the streets. Glow rides are a colourful celebration of cycling that highlight the need for safer streets and better cycle routes - this event is supported by the cycling campaign charity Cycling UK.

Glow rides are currently being organised by local people all across the UK, and the 'Salisbury Glow Ride' is being organised by COGS (Cycling Opportunities Group Salisbury).

The rides light up streets with bike lights, glow sticks and vibrant clothing.

They are a part of the Cycling UK charity’s campaign 'My Ride. Our Right' - which highlights how women are more likely than men to be put off cycling by fears of busy traffic, poor road infrastructure and intimidating behaviour from drivers.

While this event will be women-led it is open to everyone. The ride will begin at 6pm, and starts and ends at the Guildhall Square, Salisbury.

Participants can join the event by registering on the Cycling UK website cycling.org or can simply turn up on the evening of the ride if they wish.

The organisers look forward to welcoming people on the evening, collectively helping draw attention to these issues.
