Jenny’s Bistro Cafe will donate all profits generated on Monday, May 12th to South Wilts Mencap, supporting the Salisbury-area charity that assists people with learning difficulties.
South Wilts Mencap, while affiliated with the national Mencap network, is entirely self-funded through its volunteer run shop at 16 Catherine Street.
It provides a range of community-based services to the Learning Disabled community of South Wiltshire. These include recreational activities, peer support for individuals and families, and tailored guidance for parents and carers of people with learning disabilities.
“Since I took over Jenny’s Bistro Cafe in July 2024, the community has continuously shown their support to us,” says Sinan Goktas, Owner of Jenny’s Bistro Cafe. “As a father of two children with learning difficulties, I have a great appreciation for the vital work South Wilts Mencap provides to vulnerable people, their families and their carers. Donating our entire day’s takings is our way of giving back, and we warmly invite everyone to dine with us on May 12.”
Robin Clifford, Chair of Trustees at South Wilts Mencap, said, “This is a very generous gesture, and we are extremely grateful to Sinan and the staff at Jenny’s Bistro Cafe for supporting the Society and our local learning-disabled community.
"The funds raised will, of course, be a great help to us, but the real benefit of their generosity is in providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our members and their families to meet, relax and engage normally with the wider community. Having local businesses supporting us in this way also makes our members, and our volunteers and staff, feel valued and that in itself is a huge boost to morale.”
In addition to the May 12th fundraiser, Jenny’s Bistro Cafe has launched a GoFundMe campaign, contributing the first £100. Those unable to attend on the day or wishing to make a further impact are encouraged to donate online. You can donate here - https://gofund.me/8a43340f
Jenny’s Bistro Cafe is located in the Market Walk in Salisbury and will be open its usual hours on May 12. That day, all proceeds from food and beverage sales will go directly to South Wilts Mencap.
