Huge game at the Ray Mac as Torquay United visit

Salisbury FC welcome Torquay United to the Ray Mac on Tuesday evening for the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

Torquay have visited the Ray Mac before, back when Salisbury City was in the Blue Square Bet Premier division in both the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons. Both home games finished as draws.

City had a good record against Torquay, winning one and drawing two and one defeat in their four meetings over those two seasons.

In the last of the meeting, Salisbury's current manager Brian Dutton appeared as a late substitute as the sides played out a 2-2 draw in front of 2039 spectators.

Torquay come into the game after a 2-2 draw at home against Chelmsford City. The Gulls got off to a quick start and were 2-0 up after just 13 minutes, with goals from Cody Cooke and Jordan Young giving them the lead.

Chelmsford fought back, narrowing the deficit before halftime through Jake Hyde before Cameron James ensured the spoils were shared with his 82nd-minute leveller.

The result leaves Torquay in 5th on 25 points and looking for their first win in three.

Salisbury come into the game having had a free weekend and having not played since the 2-1 defeat away at Chelmsford City. Another late goal broke the White's hearts when Appiah bundled home four minutes into stoppage time.

Brian Dutton's side will be looking for their first win in four after late goals have denied them in their last three games against Dorking and Hornchurch in the games preceding Chelmsford.

Salisbury will give Dan Lincoln a full debut after his appearance in the training match against Salisbury's development side.
