Salisbury kicked off their 2026/27 campaign in emphatic fashion and ran out 5-0 victors against Hampton & Richmond thanks to a second-half hat-trick from forward Jaiden Bartolo, with Nathan Odokonyero and Josh Hedges also getting on the scoresheet.
Despite Salisbury cruising to the finish line, the visitors started proceedings as the better side, putting pressure on the Whites' backline in the opening ten minutes with some consecutive floating corners on top of Will Henry.
It was the home side that had the first threatening chance of the half as Bartolo put in a low cross into the box for Robbie Gallagher, but it was eventually blocked by the visitors.
Both sides tussled for the opening goal at the Ray Mac, with the game increasingly looking like an even contest at the half-hour mark.
However, Nathan Odokonyero opened the scoring for the Whites in the 33rd minute after the striker received a pass from Gallagher in the box, and put away a real poacher's finish into the bottom corner.
After not much separating the two sides in the first 45 minutes, Salisbury came out of the half-time break firing.
A cluster of four chances in four minutes for striking duo Odokonyero and Bartolo almost doubled the Whites' advantage early on.
But the Ray Mac crowd didn't have to wait long for another, as Gallagher once again provided an assist on the counter as he passes a brilliant ball forward to find Bartolo in acres of space, who takes three touches and shoots across goal to double our advantage.
With Brian Dutton's men seemingly in complete control of proceedings, a double change was made with 20 minutes to go, as goalscorer Odokonyero and Jordan Alonge made way for Caine Bradbury and Josh Hedges.
After the changes, the third goal of the afternoon closely followed.
Robbie Gallagher battled tenaciously on the edge of the box, got the ball to Hedges, who skipped past two men in the box to square across to Bartolo for his brace.
After what was already a tremendous performance shown by Salisbury, they still didn't look like slowing down, as the ball was in the net again for the fourth of the afternoon by Jaiden Bartolo to complete his hat trick and steal the headline, again squared across the face of goal by the tricky Josh Hedges.
Once the Beavers were left stunned by an incredible effort from Salisbury, Hedges put the cherry on top with a finish to make it 5-0 in the sixth minute of additional time and wrap up a superb first league game for the Whites.
