The 9th annual Fabulous Family Fun Day, kindly sponsored by Ozweld International, took place at Salisbury Rugby Club on Saturday.
The Fun Day, which has grown yearly, is organised in memory of Lyn Futcher, who was supported by the hospice in 2013.
15 football and 11 touch rugby teams played in the tournaments this year, with live music, children’s entertainment, a display by Phoenix Stars and a beer festival. The raffle, with a chance to win a holiday at Beyas Villas in Turkey, was very popular once more.
The sunny day exceeded all expectations with record attendance and the most ever raised for Salisbury Hospice. This amount brings the overall total raised at The Fabulous Family Fun Day since its’ first year in 2013 to more than £100,000.
The event couldn't take place without Ozweld International, alongside the fabulous committee, additional sponsors, performers, supporters, dedicated volunteers and exhibitors, for making this day feasible and achieving such an incredible amount for the Hospice.
Chairman of the fundraising committee, Greig Futcher had the following to say, "When I was told how much we had raised, there was a tear in my eye; never in my wildest dreams did I ever think we’d raise so much in one year. Thanks to all who attended, our sponsors & our committee.
Tamsin Murley, Community Fundraiser for Salisbury Hospice Charity, added, "We are so grateful to everyone who supported us in putting on this wonderful event and all those who came along to enjoy their day in the sunshine.
"I would particularly like to thank Greig and his incredibly hardworking committee of Sarah, Spencer, Sam, Clare and Jason for continuing to work tirelessly to create such a valuable fundraising event in our calendar.
"To have raised £100,000 in total is a remarkable achievement; every penny they have raised will go towards funding the vital services that the Hospice provides, free of charge, to members of the community."
